The Work
LIGHTS is a diptych—two pieces meant to be displayed together.
The collage study (11x14") uses vintage magazine fragments: a 1980s Marlboro ad, a reclining 1960s centfold, and a 1950s Midwest landscape—recomposed contemporary framework.
 
The oil painting (24x30") is a freehand interpretation of that collage—painted without mechanical aid, scaled up 4× in size through observation and instinct alone.
 
The difference: Can you see them? Look closely and we see an old friend. The pale rider, the one who visit's us all. He rides on triumphantly into the setting sun. The centerfold is turned upright with a rose tattooed on her neck— symbolizing, love & grief. All framed by the words.

An echo of the shape that surrounds us all. The circle.
 
As the series evolves, these hidden alterations become more complex, more layered, more meaningful.
